Australia ZOOT Junior Development Program 2008/09
Triathlon WA are interested in young athletes aged 16 to 19 (turning 16 as at 31/12/09) to participate in a time trial as a precursor
to selection in the TWA Development Squad for 2008/09. The
concept has arisen out of a long term plan for Triathlon to
develop an elite program with the Western Australian Institute
of Sport (WAIS). The time trials start in October each year.
From the October time trials the TWA Junior Development Committee
will select athletes to form part of the 2008/09 squad.
The squad will comprise of athletes aged 16 to 19 but those
athletes aged 14 and 15 who are capable of competitive times
are invited to take part as we wish to identify athletes for
future years and keep track of their progress.
Please note the target times listed below.
Swim Times for 1km timed swim in pool (Male 13.45) (Female
14.45)
Run Times for 5km timed run on track (Male
18.00) ( Female 20.00)
The TWA committee will use this as a guide to selection but
will also take into account potential improvements and other
factors.
Successful candidates to the program will be required to sign
a contract which outlines their commitment to the program and
the associated requirements and sponsors obligations.
Please note that this is not designed to replace the athlete's
existing programs. Coaches and parents will be invited to participate
in all educational opportunities so that consistent messages
are received by all.
